It feels like New Years Eve was just yesterday, everyone either partying in the streets & clubs of Kl or maybe was just sitting at home with the company of family & friends, whatever it is that you did, it is now the end of the 1st month of the year 2010. (Oh oh)
Im pretty sure at the beginning of the year you had made a resolution list, or had intended to at least, unless of course you’re a non – believer of the ‘normalish’ way of people doing things. I was leafing through this magazine a few days back and it was emphasizing on if we have ever asked ourselves what have we done this far for us to be proud of rather than continuously making new year resolutions that we might not keep up too.
With that I went on a hunting spree to find my old school books and pictures that I hadn lost over the years. It brought back flooding memories, as to when in school when I first went in they said we had to wash our own toilets, and my dad claimed after 5 years all I learnt from school was to wash toilets properly (sheesh!) anyhow, those were the days when school activities were everything in life, going early to school and coming back late, I used to love it (except the time spent in the classroom) btw mind you I was in an all girls school, so no ‘other’ factors involved. That girly fight, the terrible looking glasses, the getting 4 shades darker before sports day was always fun and still gives me the Goosebumps when to think about those memories. Not forgetting, the times we used to go to other schools or vice versa for girl guides, scouts, interact and Leo was always a ‘major event’ of its own year after year until of course the last prom came about.
The reason Im rambling about that is, just take a minute to think how you were in school and how you changed when you entered college and then uni. Soon he freedom of attending classes, choices of clothes, liberty of speech and to do everything you weren’t allowed to do in school, surely changed me a whole load, i would have one everything i would not have dreamed of doing, getting weird coloured hair, piercings, etc etc
But looking back from that, now from my 13 year old school excitement, i think i have become who i aspired to be back then (well almost, minus the dentist bit) but coming to where i am now, should leave me grateful for many things in life, family, friends and all those achievements big or small that i would and have made in my life.
In conclusion, maybe this year, you should cool off on the resolutions and just stick to rewarding yourself!
would u like to wash my toilet?
