that friend-the clown

Internet surely connects one to the world, but it connected me to a friend, who did not live in some far away country but just 20 mins away from home. And this is the story about him. (yes i do have guy friends to, im quite straight thank you very much)

MSN or more like its renamed to WLM was the cause if it all. What started off to be a simple mechanical routine of saying ‘hi, how are you?’ leaded to, ‘i have a question’, and then to ‘what should i do’ and finally to, ‘i need to talk to you, my life just crashed into pieces!’ it may sound very familiar to many of you, well how else does it all start right? (now that you have read till here please finish it, or you may get the wrong idea)

So after a few weeks of Msn it moved on to the phone, seeing that each other needed a listening ear as work was rubbish, the friends were giving problem and sometimes you need a shoulder to lean on right? So the hours of whining, complaining, screaming, sarcasm etc, decided we should meet up in a mamak stall for dinner.

So at Devi’s corner we were on fine day, after both of us being off schedule so many times. i still clearly remembered the order, a burnt naan, mee goreng and 2 teh ‘o’ ice limau. We had complaint session bout the naan and even got a new one in exchange, and boy was he praying the cook din spit in his food. Lol. Ahh & the hour and a half we were there, both our phones kept ringing non stop, that it came to a point where one would speak on the phone and the other to the cat under the next table ;)

So that was day one of our very eventful meet, and day two took a long time to materialize, but yes we kept in touch, but as the problems fade, so do the phone calls right, thats just normal.

Anyway so yes i went global trotting for a bit as well, so we did not exactly keep in touch much, so the next time we met him, he and another friend decided to bang me down to the core, i doubt im ever forgiving him for that, but oh well what are friends for right?

So a week after that he decides to tell me he bought a ticket to go to India to see his girlfriend and that he’s never travelled out of the country in his life. This is the highlight of his presence in my life, you’re just bound to find out why, so there we are one day sitting at the immigration in damansara after I submitted in my thesis draft and he has happily eaten a few breakfast sets in Mc’ds without me and mind you they were free due to some voucher nonsense. Never mind i had some nice tasting sandwiches.

So there we are sitting and watching some lame cartoon and discussing how he’s gonna survive in India with the 20 bucks in his wallet and how his gf is gonna feed him to the eagles. Oh btw he was planning to stand in the middle of madras and b*tch bout rajinikanth or a.r. rahman and see what happens. (Praise the lord). Anyway half way through seeing that i had to get to work i ditched him and left. And he patiently waited for another 2 hours, collected his passport and went home a happy man.
A week later, im sending him a text asking him to have a good time in India and all that. That same night, he miscalls me, and im like ‘dude im not calling you in india, go fly kite’...and he texts me back saying he did not board the flight. Know why? *flashback*

Our hero is at KLIA, the jacket strung across his hand pulling his luggage and the passport and ticket in the other hand, looking all cool queuing up to check in. He puts the luggage on the belt and places the passport and ticket on the counter pushing it across to the attendant, to be asked “ sir, wheres your visa?” ROFL.... and there you go ladies and gents the hero forgot his visa in all the excitement!!! I owning a PIO card did not even think of it and apparently neither did half of the world who knew he was going. So there he was screaming at his gf who checked if he has everything except his traveling documents and yelling at his mum who did not remind him. Sigh.

So off he went to the ticketing counter, made some friends, paid a little extra and got the ticket for the next day, seeing that he was unwilling to burn all the money he spent on the ticket. He went home, dumped his bags, took the car and shot off to the Indian High comm. There, after fighting with loads of people writing various letters, he came out with a visa few hours later.
*present*

After burning a few more hundred ringgit, the next day he took the flight and spent 10 happy days with his gf. Things like this make one’s life much more colorful and exciting don’t you think? Btw did it even not cross your mind to ask, if i knew this guy before or if i randomly just met him of the net?
